Over the past three years, we have tried to continue to provide the best service possible at Low Fell. The need for veterinary services has become greater than ever. We are managing this situation as best as we can whilst working hard to recruit the right people to expand our teams and meet this growing demand.
In order to continue providing the best urgent and emergency vet cover and routine health care for all our current and new clients, we have made the difficult decision to close our Low Fell branch indefinitely.
This change will come into effect from Monday 12th September 2022.
We are notifying all Low Fell clients either by email or post.
What this means for our clients
We appreciate that many will be disappointed after many years of service at Low Fell.
We are pleased to confirm that all our patients’ clinical histories are held within a secure database accessible at our main site in Heaton. This enables us to continue to give care to our Low Fell patients, without interruptions or delay.
Firstvets Heaton is a larger practice and open longer hours seven days a week giving more appointment availability with our experienced team of vets and nurses, some of whom clients will have met at Low Fell. The practice offers ample parking, more facilities and a greater range of services.
Healthy Pet Club
Memberships of The Healthy Pet Club are held within our secure database and all account details will be accessible by our team in Heaton. Low Fell clients can continue to enjoy the usual discounts and savings at Heaton.
Please note: there will be a change in the Healthy Pet Club reference number, which will be referenced differently on bank statements for the monthly direct debit.

Alternative Arrangements
Clients unable to attend our practice in Heaton can contact us at Heaton to request a transfer of their pet’s patient history after they have registered with their new practice. We will not automatically transfer any pet’s history until authorised by the client.
Vaccinations and pet’s on Long Term Medication
The pet’s clinical records contain the pet’s vaccination history. On transfer of the pet’s clinical records to a new vet, clients will be able to enquire when vaccinations are due and/or arrange an appointment. The new vet will, of course also continue with any long-term medication that the pet is on. Clients are advised to allow sufficient time for the transfer of their pet’s records to ensure continuity of treatment.
